Microsoft Turkey and visittoTurkey, along with the help of the Photosynth software, have created 3-D reconstructions of the ancient artifacts and cities which have been left behind by ancient Anatolian civilisations. These are now being posted on the internet, on the official web portal of Turkey, GoTurkey.com. Virtual 3-D reconstructions, which are identical to the original pieces, were created using the software designed by Microsoft Labs and over 100,000 digital photographs which were taken for the project. With this project, the antique Anatolian cities and artifacts have been brought back to life on the internet.
The 41 ancient cities and artifacts that have been made available on the internet include: the ancient city of Ephesos, Hasankeyf, the gates of Pergamon as well as the statues of Kings which lie on Mt. Nemrut. On top of this, structures from the era of the Ottoman Empire, such as the Sultanahmet Mosque, Rumelihisarı and the Bursa Ulu Mosque, are also presented on the internet in this 3-D format.
Soon, with the help of an interactive map, these 3-D reconstructions will be presented for use on visittoturkey. It is possible to view these reconstructions by navigating through the links that are stated below. Enjoy...
